We fell in love with this organization the moment we learned their board is made up primarily of Hawaiian elders and cultural practitioners.
What a humble way to bow to a place, to collaborate, to care for it, together, when often you see the science community come in and take over. Not here though. This team of experts understands perfectly, how the native culture of a place, its people, are an essential part in restoring it. We immediately wanted to know more, and soon knew, this work mattered, and we wanted to support it!
So, we set out to create this Immersion together, bringing our friends from Body Glove Hawai'i along to allow our guests to have exclusive access, not only to the facilities on land, like the coral nursery, but also to the most important restoration sites along the Kailua-Kona coast. This way, you not only learn about the importance of this work and research, you participate in it, and see the results first hand.
And along the way, enjoy yourself on a private super-raft with a sustainable local lunch, a cultural practitioner and marine expert to guide your experience.
We have learned so much since working with these folks and would love for you to experience their care and expertise as well. Ideally, in person, where you can peek behind-the-scenes of their work, and participate in the restoration. But if that isn't possible, we can tie you over with this video we've created to meet the team and learn more.
